Trivia[]

  • She is based on the real life wife of Doc Holliday, Mary Katherine Horony-Cummings, who was known as Big Nose Kate and was the only woman the real life Doc Holliday ever had a relationship with. She was a Hungarian-born prostitute, which the show hints at by bringing her into the show with the Hungarian vampires. In the episode, Jolene, Wynonna calls her Big Nose Kate, when talking about her to the character of Jolene.
  • She's mentioned for the first time in Leavin' on Your Mind by Waverly, who was showing Doc an article about his wife. The accompanying photo was of the real Kate.
  • In reality, Kate's the person who introduced Doc and Wyatt to one another.
  • To explain why the actress does not resemble the photos of the historical Mary Katherine "Big Nose Kate" Horony-Cummings it is explained in the show that her friend Sally pretended to be her, when having her photo taken to appear in the papers.[1] Sally, or Ma Sally was a woman Doc had been sweet on.
  • The tarot deck she uses is called Mary-El Tarot.
